A winning formula
Pretty Pet Jewel Town fuses two notoriously addictive mobile game formats and melds them into one. The idea is that you complete the match-three puzzles to earn objects and collectibles which you can use to decorate your pet's home.
The match-three element of Pretty Pet Jewel Town lacks the finess of Candy Crush Saga or Bejeweled but it's fun to play nonetheless . It incorporates some interesting challenges and plenty of boosters to help you out. Like similar free-to-play color matching puzzles, you have a certain number of moves with which to finish the challenge before inevitably have to start making in-app purchases to get another shot.
Decorating your house in Pretty Pet Jewel Town can be fun, and there are plenty of objects to be unlocked. You can link up with your friends online and visit each others' houses to show off what you've won and how cool your house looks.
Fiddly user interface
The design of Pretty Pet Jewel Town is quite disjointed and is does feel a bit like two different games stuck together in a crude (but cute) way.
The home screen is where you can see your pet's house and decorate it. Here you'll find a menu which gives you access to all the available items, achievements list, settings, and access to friends' houses. This menu bar is fiddly to operate since the ooptions are very small.
There's also a map option on this menu bar, which takes you out into the various puzzle levels. You can return to the Home level at any time by pressing the home button, but still there's a lack of continuity between the puzzle and home-making elements of Pretty Pet Jewel Town.,
If you like bright colors and fluffiness then you'll love the design scheme of Pretty Pet Jewel Town. From the sweet characters that appear in the game to the toddler who screams 'excellent' when you complete a puzzle combo, the game is so cute it can make a lesser person feel queasy.
Pretty but predictable
Pretty Pet Jewel Town is bursting with cuteness, but lacks the originality needed to make it more than just an average match three game mixed with an average build-em-up game.
